At Dee Point, we intend to provide our children with an enriching and high- quality languages education which promotes a love for languages and fosters their curiosity. We aim to introduce the learning of the Spanish language and the understanding of its culture in enjoyable and stimulating ways. Through this we will embed the essential language skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing.  By the end of their education journey here, we will have aimed to have laid the foundations for future language learning.

We have planned teaching and learning in Spanish using the Twinkl PlanIt scheme of work.

Our curriculum has been designed to progressively develop the key skills in Spanish. We deliver a weekly foreign languages lesson to all children from Year three to Year six. This is delivered by the class teacher or another qualified teacher during PPA. To aid transition, language lessons in year 6 are delivered by a Spanish teacher from the local high school, which also exposes the children to a good model of pronunciation and intonation. As a school, we use these lessons to also support CPD of staff.
