Pandora 2018 - 2019

Miss Jones

Year 6 Teacher

Hello and Welcome!

You have found your way to the Pandora class page :)

This year, I'll try to keep the website updated as much as possible with useful links about life in the classroom. I'll also add information about our learning each half term so you can keep up to date with everything we're doing.

General classroom bits and bobs

Morning Thinking

Every morning, there will be a morning activity of some sort in each of the children's achievement baskets or some social games out on the table. When children arrive in school, they should go straight to their basket or table to complete their job: please feel free to stay with them for a little while to help them settle in. However, once the children are happy to continue on their own, you're welcome to dash off (and tackle the other 100 things on your to-do list no doubt!)

Reading at home

This year, we want to encourage the children to read as much as possible both in and out of school. We will be reading daily in class, both as a group and individually. If you could continue to share books and stories at home, it would really help to bring on the children's knowledge and comprehension. We have been reading chapter books in class (Roald Dahl is a firm favourite) so even just reading stories to the children is great for helping them to progress. Any questions you may have around reading, please don't hesitate to pop in and see me.

PE

We will be having PE on a Tuesday morning. Please can you make sure that children bring their PE kit in on a Monday morning and leave it in school until Friday afternoon. This is just in case we decide to make the most of the warmer weather to go out and play some team/social games- particularly during Friday Festival time! School PE kit is as follows:

  • White T-shirt
  • Black/white shorts or tracksuit bottoms
  • Comfortable trainers or pumps

PE

We are still having our weekly swimming sessions over at Ash Tree with Nikki! These have been a real success and the children are absolutely loving their time in the pool. Even in the few sessions they've had so far, we have seen huge improvements in their abilities. Keep an eye on Seesaw for lots of videos so you can see how much progress we're making.

For info about all of the learning going on in our classroom this term, please see the tabs at the top of the page. I'll try to keep everything updated as much as possible so you can see all of the wonderful progress your fantastic children are making. As well as this, you'll find links to games and resources that can help to support them at home!

Thanks for sticking with me!
