Our first topic this year is Vicious Vikings! Over the course of the term, we will discover what it took to become a fierce and successful Viking warrior. We will explore how artefacts can help us to learn more about life in the past and we will compare our own lives to those of the Vikings and Anglo Saxons. We will also spend some time learning about significant people from Viking and Anglo Saxon times such as King Alfred the Great.

Geography - pupils will be developing a wider understanding of geographical vocablulary in relation to Brazil, with particular attention to key human and physical features of the area.

Art - children have created designs based on the Amazon Rainforest which they will transfer to clay tile sculptures and paint to make a class display.

Literacy - the class begun the term by writing persuasive texts using increasingly complex skills. This will conclude with a 'hot task' to complete a persuasive holiday brochure to tempt tourists to holiday in Rio de Janeiro. The next module will also be linked to South America as we turn our focus to writing an adventure story.

This term we will be looking at the properties of materials. This will include lots of hands-on experiments to encourage the children to gain a greater understanding of the world around them.
