Our Topic this Term…
After the Fall – Dan Santat
This term we will be focusing on the story ‘After the Fall’. This is currently running as a whole school project to support the children with the return to school after lockdown. The children in Reception will be learning the story, using actions and following our story map through a process called 'Talk for Writing'. This will allow the children to become familiar with the way stories are structured. It will also give the children an opportunity to learn the language needed to write their very own story.
Each morning the children will also access a Phonics session. During this lesson the children will learn to recognise and write new sounds, and begin to blend their new sounds together to read and write words. The children will be focusing on giving meaning to marks they make and writing labels during their first English lessons.
